DESCRIPTION<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-88d0322 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"88d0322\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>We have deployed two experimental test sites, EEBLab1 and EEBLab2, to investigate energy-efficient approaches and technologies for smart buildings. The research focuses on three complementary aspects aimed at reducing energy consumption while maintaining adequate occupant comfort:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Passive strategies:<\/strong> Reducing energy demand through the development and use of energy-efficient building materials, equipment, and architectural designs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Active strategies:<\/strong> Improving energy efficiency through advanced control and management systems, including HVAC control, lighting control, energy monitoring, and demand-side management. These approaches leverage real-time data acquisition and advanced analytics enabled by IoT and big data technologies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Renewable Energy Sources (RES) integration:<\/strong> Developing innovative solutions that incorporate renewable energy sources and energy storage systems, such as solar, wind, and fuel-cell technologies, to further reduce energy consumption and dependence on the electrical grid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d7293a8 e-con-boxed e-flex e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"d7293a8\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c33db9b elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c33db9b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">SCENARIOS<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-52b22e0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"52b22e0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Together, EEBLab1 and EEBLab2 platforms provide a real-world Living Lab environment for designing, testing, and validating next-generation smart building technologies and energy management solutions. Both platforms leverage state-of-the-art IoT and data-driven technologies to enable real-time sensing, monitoring, and control. The deployed infrastructure continuously collects and processes data from distributed sensors, smart meters, renewable energy sources, storage systems, and electrical loads. This data supports the development and validation of AI-driven energy management and control strategies, including predictive analytics, fault detection, occupancy-aware control, demand-side management, renewable energy forecasting, and intelligent optimization of energy production, storage, and consumption.
